Comforting Nut Teas for Nutty Days

Eating dez nuts is highlighted on several days of the Lunar calendar. Many don’t think of Nut Teas. (Male fertility teas discussed here! – LOL) However, there are some delicious all gender Nut Teas that are perfect on those nutty days!! Try DEZ TEZ lol on the days nuts are recommended on the Lunar Calendar, (Lunar Days: 12, 18, 23, 28). (I have teenage boy if you’re wondering the dez nutz references. eye roll)

Nutty teas have a warm, rich flavor that can be really comforting. Here are a few popular nutty tea blends to try. Let me know how you like them.

1. Almond Black Tea

  • Ingredients: Almond pieces, black tea, or rooibos base.
  • Flavor: Rich, warm almond flavor with a hint of sweetness.
  • Best With: Milk or a milk substitute to bring out the almond creaminess.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon black tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Honey or milk, to taste
  • Instructions:
    1. Boil 2 cups of water and add the black tea and almonds.
    2. Let it steep for 5 minutes, then strain.
    3. Add honey or milk as desired.

2. Hazelnut Green Tea

  • Ingredients: Roasted hazelnuts, black tea or green tea.
  • Flavor: Earthy, deep nutty flavor with a slight roastiness.
  • Best With: A touch of vanilla for extra warmth.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon green tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped hazelnuts
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Vanilla extract, optional
  • Instructions:
    1. Heat 2 cups of water to about 175°F (not boiling).
    2. Add the green tea and hazelnuts, and let it steep for 3 minutes.
    3. Strain the tea, add a drop of vanilla extract if desired, and enjoy.

3. Walnut Green Tea

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon green tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Honey, to taste
  • Instructions:
    1. Heat the water to around 175°F.
    2. Add the green tea and walnuts and steep for 3-5 minutes.
    3. Strain, add honey if desired, and enjoy.
  • Best With: Honey or a dash of cream to enhance the nuttiness.
  • Ingredients: Walnut pieces, green tea, and sometimes coconut or other sweet elements.
  • Flavor: Smooth, earthy, and slightly sweet; walnuts add a rich, buttery taste.

4. Pecan Praline Black Tea

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon black tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped pecans
    • 2 cups hot water
    • 1 teaspoon caramel extract or a touch of maple syrup
  • Instructions:
    1. Boil 2 cups of water and add the black tea and pecans.
    2. Steep for 5 minutes, strain, and add the caramel extract or a bit of maple syrup.
    3. Serve with a splash of milk, if desired.
  • Ingredients: Black tea, pecans, caramel flavoring.
  • Best With: Milk and a sweetener to replicate a praline candy taste.
  • Flavor: Sweet and nutty with praline undertones, perfect as a dessert tea.

5. Chestnut Cinnamon Tea

  • Ingredients: Chestnut pieces, black or green tea, sometimes mixed with spices like cinnamon.
  • Flavor: Lightly sweet, creamy, and subtly nutty with a roasty hint.
  • Best With: A bit of milk and honey to bring out its creamy flavors.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon black tea or green tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped chestnuts
    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Honey, to taste
  • Instructions:
    1. Boil 2 cups of water and add the black or green tea, chestnuts, and cinnamon.
    2. Steep for 4-5 minutes, then strain.
    3. Add honey to taste and enjoy.

6. Peanut Butter Rooibos Tea

  • Ingredients: Roasted peanuts, rooibos tea, and sometimes chocolate.
  • Flavor: Sweet, creamy, and nutty; tastes a bit like peanut butter cups!
  • Best With: Enjoy on its own or with a splash of milk for extra creaminess.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon rooibos tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped roasted peanuts
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Cocoa powder (optional), to taste
  • Instructions:
    1. Boil 2 cups of water and add the rooibos tea and peanuts.
    2. Steep for 6-7 minutes, then strain.
    3. Stir in a little cocoa powder if you’d like a chocolatey touch.

7. Cashew Vanilla Rooibos Tea

  • Ingredients: Cashew pieces, rooibos, vanilla bean.
  • Flavor: Buttery, sweet, and slightly nutty with a vanilla undertone.
  • Best With: Serve with a bit of honey or vanilla syrup for a treat.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon rooibos tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped cashews
    • 2 cups hot water
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Honey, to taste
  • Instructions:
    1. Boil the water and add the rooibos tea and cashews.
    2. Steep for about 6-7 minutes, strain, and add vanilla extract.
    3. Add honey to taste and enjoy!

8. Macadamia Nut White Tea

  • Ingredients: Macadamia nuts, black tea or white tea, sometimes with coconut.
  • Flavor: Rich, buttery, and slightly tropical if combined with coconut.
  • Best With: A bit of milk or coconut milk to bring out the tropical notes.
  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tablespoon white tea
    • 1 tablespoon chopped macadamia nuts
    • 1 teaspoon coconut flakes (optional)
    • 2 cups hot water
    • Coconut milk, optional
  • Instructions:
    1. Heat water to about 170°F (not boiling), and add the white tea, macadamia nuts, and coconut flakes.
    2. Let it steep for 4 minutes, then strain.
    3. Add a splash of coconut milk if desired for an extra creamy flavor.

  • Coconut Flakes (optional, unsweetened)
  • Vanilla Bean or Vanilla Extract
  • Cinnamon (ground)
  • Honey (or preferred sweetener)
  • Milk or Milk Substitute (optional, almond, coconut, or regular milk work well)
